(Quad Cities) – The 2nd annual Quad Cities Week, themed For the Love of the Quad Cities will be held April 28 – May 2, 2014, presented by The Network: Young Professionals of the Quad Cities, an initiative of the Quad Cities Chamber.\u00a0 Show your love of the Quad Cities on social media and by attending the signature event, The Network\u2019s Symposium and YP Community Impact Awards May 1.<\/p>\n

Quad Cities Week will kick-off with a ribbon cutting Monday, April 28 at 1:15 p.m. at Waterfront Convention Center, Bettendorf.

The Network\u2019s\u00a0 4th annual\u00a0 Symposium & YP Community Impact Awards will be at the Establishment Theatre on Thursday, May 1, 2014. The Network\u2019s Symposium will be held from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. The YP Community Impact Awards will follow immediately from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf cities begin thinking of themselves as engaged in a relationship with their citizens, and if we as citizens begin to consider our emotional connections with our places, we open up new possibilities in community, social, and economic development by including the most powerful of motivators\u2014the human heart\u2014in our toolkit of city-making,\u201d says Peter Kageyama, author of \u201cFor the Love of Cities\u201d and keynote speaker of the YP Community Impact Awards.<\/p>\n

Kageyama cites data from Gallup and the Knight Foundation saying that there is a high correlation between cities with engaged citizens, and economic vitality of a city. He will discuss emotional engagement in the community, and the role that young professionals play in building the community.<\/p>
