IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley to open a branch at \u201cThe Club,\u201d a teen center, in the former Skills building at 1125 5th Avenue, in Moline.<\/p>\n

The 932 square-foot full-service branch will open to the public on April 28 with lobby hours from 3-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The branch will allow teens to work closely with IHMVCU employees and gain hands-on workplace experience to prepare them to succeed later in life.<\/p>

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most unique aspect of this project is the focus on education and career development, specifically as Teen Member Service Representatives (MSRs),\u201d says Dennis Hall, CEO and President, IHMVCU. \u201cTeens will be exposed to the credit union\u2019s daily operations and build key skills that\u2019ll help them successfully enter the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n

These young professionals will be trained to work part-time and then, after they graduate from high school, will be eligible to \u201cgraduate\u201d to other full time positions within the credit union.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been with the Boys and Girls Club for a very long time,\u201d says Bianca Raya, Teen MSR. \u201cThis is a great opportunity for me, and I want to set a good example for the younger kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, teens will not only receive financial education, but become advocates as well. With assistance from credit union staff, teens will play an important role in financial education seminars for club and credit union youth members.<\/p>

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be working for the Boys and Girls Club branch,\u201d says Marco Flores, Teen MSR. \u201cI grew up in the [BGC] Youth Center, and am looking forward to giving back to the Club and community.\u201d<\/p>\n
