Council #10 of the League of United Latin American Citizens, (LULAC), would like to encourage all students to apply for this year\u2019s scholarships as deadline approaches.<\/p>\n

The scholarship program is open to entering freshmen only residing in the Quad Cities area. Applications are available from area high school counselors, online at http:\/\/lulac10.org\/ or LULAC Scholarship Committee Chairman Matthew Casillas 563 – 381-7807.<\/p>

The deadline for submitting the applications is March 31, 2014 with no exceptions. Submit all applications to: LULAC Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4616, Davenport, IA 52808-4616. Scholarship awards are based on grades and academic performance; however, emphasis may be placed on the individual\u2019s motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which can best be revealed through a personal essay. Need, community involvement, and leadership activities will also be considered.<\/p>\n

LULAC Council #10 is planning upcoming visits hosted by St. Ambrose and the University of Iowa, visit the website at http:\/\/lulac10.org\/. Like the FB page from their website, information will be posted on the website and FB.<\/p>\n

LULAC has considered education its number one priority since it was established<\/p>\n

in 1929. LULAC Council 10 of Davenport has awarded over four hundred and fifteen thousand in scholarships since 1975. Council #10 raises funds locally through a BINGO operation at its Activity Center, the annual LULAC Fiesta fundraiser, an annual Golf outing and Poker tournament and from corporate and individual sponsors and donations. Local funds are submitted to the LULAC National Scholarship Fund, (LNSF) for matching funds. Matching funds usually amount to 60% or more. Donations to<\/p>
