The summer is finally here. The temperatures are rising and since the air is getting hotter many are planning to go to swimming pools, lakes or even to travel somewhere to the beaches.<\/p>\n

It is fun to play in the water, but it is important to remember the safety rules. Here are some tips that can help to avoid accidents and keep the little ones safe:<\/p>

– Make sure that your kids understand that in case of emergency they need to contact a lifeguard or any adult<\/p>\n

– Kids never should run or push each other around and close to swimming pool<\/p>\n

– It is very important not to dive in areas that are not designated as diving areas<\/p>\n

– Even if your kids know how to swim or use floating devices never leave them without supervision<\/p>

– When kids are finished playing in the pool take all the toys out of the water<\/p>\n

– If you have a swimming pool in your yard, make sure that the pool is covered, does not have a ladder or has a fence around it when you are not available to watch your kids<\/p>

– Teach your kids not to get in the water if you are not there to supervise them<\/p>\n

If you are taking your kids to the lake or pond make sure you watch them closely because even if water is shallow close to the shore, it can suddenly become very deep<\/p>

Sometimes there are jagged rocks, broken glass or trash in lakes and ponds so remember to wear protective footwear all the time.<\/p>\n

Lakes and ponds might have weeds and grass where legs and arms can get tangled<\/p>\n

Always have your phone ready and with you at all times when you watch your kids play in the water.<\/p>\n

Summer is always fun. So be careful and enjoy hot weather and freshness of water.<\/p>\n

Swimming Pools and Aquatic Parks of Quad Cities and surrounding areas<\/p>\n

\u25ba Whitewater Junction, 17th Street y 18th Avenue, Rock Island. Admission: $7 for day for every one of 3 years and older, kids 2 years and younger enter free with paid adult. The cost is $4 from 6 to 8 p.m. Park hours are 11 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.<\/p>\n

\u25baCentennial Spraypark, Marquette Street and River Drive, Davenport. Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m. until sunset daily.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Annie Wittenmeyer Family Aquatic Center, 2816 Eastern Avenue, Davenport. Cost is $3 for swimmers younger than 17, $4 for those 18 and older and $1.50 for lap swim only. Thursdays offer buy-one-get- one-free admission. Hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m. 6 to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, with lap swim 5 to 6 p.m., and 1 to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Milan Sprayground, Dickson Park, 315 E. 14th Avenue, Milan. Admission is $3 per day for ages 2 and older. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. every day.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Riverside Aquatics Center, 3635 4th Avenue, Moline. Admission is $7 per day, $5 for those 55 or older and $1 for children 3 and younger. A family package for up to five people is offered for $30. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and noon to 5 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Splash Landing Aquatic Center, 2220 23rd Street, Bettendorf. Admission is $6 per day; five-visit passes are sold for $24 at the Life Fitness Center and Splash Landing. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday with night swim 6:30 to 8 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Fejervay Family Aquatic Center, 1900 Telegraph Road, Davenport. Admission is $3 per day for those 17 and younger, $4 for all others. Lap swim only is $1.50 per day. Wednesdays are, buy-one-get-one-free days. Cost for 6 to 8 p.m.is $1.50 for youths and $2 for adults. Hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, with lap swim 5 to 6 p.m., and 1-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Doshe Pool, 622 Concord Street, Davneport. Admission is $1.50 for swimmers 17 and younger and $4 for all others. Tuesdays are buy-one-get-one-free days, and lap swim costs $1.50. Hours are 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Muscatine Aquatic Center, 1 Park Drive, Muscatine, IA. Schedule 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
