You didn\u2019t need a runway or to go to New York or Chicago if you wanted to feel like a supermodel. <\/span>The popular TV show America\u2019s Next Top Model which is now going into its 12th<\/sup> season held open casting calls at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport, Iowa on Thursday, July 18. <\/span><\/p>\n

Women from all over the Midwest came to try and secure a call back as they had to meet the 18-27 age requirements as well as be at least 5\u2019 7\u201d tall, without heels.

<\/span>Although they were not judged by show producer and supermodel Tyra Banks, runway coach J. Alexander, known as Miss J, and fashion photographer Nigel Barker, the ladies still had to face a set of judges who were looking the best from our region. <\/p>\n

Niki Miles of Cedar Rapids left her job midday to audition. <\/span>Having modeled at a young age she thought she would be able to overcome the mixed personalities in the house the models in the show live in if she made it that far. <\/span>\u201cI\u2019d probably hide in my room and listen to Led Zeppelin if there was drama in the house, but I think I would be able to get along with everyone,\u201d Niki said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Melanie Hester of Davenport was very excited to be at the auditions and said that it was nice to have positive feedback from friends. <\/span>\u201cI thought today was going to be crazy but it was actually a relief to come and find it pretty calm,\u201d Hester said. <\/span>A former Chicago native and now living in Bettendorf, Anne Meltzer heard a commercial on the radio and decided to try out. <\/span>Having no previous modeling background, she was also happy to see the laid back atmosphere of the casting call.<\/p>\n

No winner was chosen as this was just a casting call and not a contest. <\/span>We\u2019ll just have to wait for season 12 of America\u2019s Next Top Model to see if it features any local contestant. <\/span>For now though, they will have to wait for the one call back that just might make them a star.<\/p>
