Quad Cities offers many great attractions, but probably the most magical one is the Festival of Trees. Quad Cities Arts, nonprofit arts organization, started this tradition in 1986. It is an annual fund raiser that provides funds for arts programs and support for the residents of six counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. The organizers assure that the Festival of Trees is “recognized as one of the top events of its kind in North America.” Since the first year this event raised a few million dollars to support local artists. The Festival of Trees is the biggest attraction in Quad Cities area.
This year the Festival of Trees starts on Thursday, November 18 and the last day to enjoy this time honored tradition is Sunday 27 de November. Full schedule and hours are available at https://quadcityarts.com/festivaloftrees/
There will be many things going on during the Festival of Trees. Among them there will be Art Exhibit showing off the art works of high school students of our area. The main Attraction is of course the room full of beautiful Christmas trees. There will be a Book Tree (a tree that will have many different books), Budding Designers Tree (trees designed by elementary, middle and high school students), and designer trees (trees decorated by professional and nonprofessional designers). This is a lot more than Christmas lights and tinsel! Prepare to be amazed by the magic of the season.
On the Center stage of the Festival of Trees various dancers, singers, bands and choirs will delight the participants and surely put everyone in the holiday spirit. Also, there will be Holiday Express, gingerbread village and North Pole children’s activity center. Don’t forget the traditional holiday parade! Huge helium balloons pageant queens, dance groups, bands, floats, tractors and even antique cars. The parade will be on Saturday November 19 at 9:45 AM in downtown Davenport.
