Don’t let the fact that long time UFC veteran, Diego Sanchez (27-8) and his opponent, fan favorite, Jim Miller (25-6) are not on the main card of UFC 196: McGregor vs Diaz let you believe that their fight won’t be anything but potentially one of the best fights of the night.
Miller and Diaz are the main event fight on the UFC Fight Pass portion of the night and anyone who has been around the sport for a while knows that whenever Sanchez sets foot in the octagon, a bloody brawl is sure to follow.
For most people, going against a fighter like Sanchez can be intimidating but for Miller, whose style is similar, he isn’t worried a bit.
“I know how I fight,” said Miller. “And from the style of fight that he brings into the octagon, I’m in for a fun night.”
A McGregor card might also be a bit of a distraction for most fighters with all the drama and attention they command, but Sanchez says he feeds of that.
“My first taste of the UFC was the first Ultimate Fighter where I won,” said Sanchez. “So I’m used to all the drama.”
Being in the lightweight division, a division where Conor McGregor was originally supposed to crash and fight Rafael dos Anjos, Miller says he isn’t worried about his division being hijacked from other champions in other divisions.
“I have no problem with other champions coming in as long as it’s not holding up the division” said Miller.
And for Sanchez, who is coming off a loss to Ricardo Llamas after dropping down to the featherweight division is just happy to be back in his division on a card like this.
“I feel good and I’m ready to go.” said Sanchez. “I know we are going to put on one hell of a fight.”
Diego Sanchez and Jim Miller face off at UFC 196: McGregor vs Diaz LIVE on PPV on Saturday, March 5th, 10pm ET, 7pm PT. Their fight will be the main event of the early prelims streaming only on UFC Fight Pass.
