The Davenport Fire Department could be the place for you! Firefighter is a dangerous profession and it is not for everyone, but if you feel that this career might be something you would be interested in doing for the rest of your life; then you are invited to a recruitment workshop presented by Davenport Fire Department.
The recruitment workshop will be on Saturday April, 26 2014 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It will take place at LULAC located at 4224 Ricker Hill Road, Davenport, IA.
Fire Department Chief Washburn invites everyone to this workshop. During the recruitment workshop Fire Department staff will talk about the Department and about the profession of firefighter and will offer help with the application process. Applications will be accepted during the workshop as well.
Qualified candidates will be placed on a waiting list for when the openings become available. According to Chief Washburn the Department is looking to diversify their workforce which will make the Fire Department stronger.
Everyone who is looking to become a firefighter will also have to take a written test and physical test. During this recruitment workshop participants will be able to learn more about the testing process. If the recruit passes the tests he will be interviewed by a panel.
Those who are looking into trying out for this rewarding position need to have graduated High School or have a GED, they have to live in Davenport or have to move to Davenport within a year, and have to get their EMT license within the year. High School students are also welcomed to participate in the workshop and learn more about being a firefighter.
